The Story Of BoomCloud

Alright, let’s roll the tape back to the days before BoomCloud was even a twinkle in my entrepreneurial eye. Picture me at the Salt Lake Dental Lab, where I worked alongside my dad, grandpa, and my super-talented twin brother, Justin. Our family practically had dentistry in our DNA. We spent countless hours in that lab, perfecting dental appliances and listening to my grandpa’s legendary stories about the good old days. It was there that I got my first taste of the dental industry—and realized that I had a lot of ideas for how things could be done better.

We were a classic family team: my dad and grandpa, the wise dental lab veterans, and Justin and me, the young guns always cooking up new ways to innovate. And while the lab was a fantastic training ground, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more we could do for dental practices, especially when it came to the mind-numbing frustration of dealing with insurance companies.

So, in 2013, armed with that dental lab experience and a burning desire to shake up the industry, I launched BoomCloud. And of course, because I’m not one to half-ass anything, I went all in. I built the company from scratch, bootstrapped the heck out of it, and navigated the chaos of entrepreneurship with enough stress to write a self-help book (still pending).

And let’s be real—I wouldn’t have made it without Justin. He was there from day one, working alongside me at the dental lab, and eventually joined BoomCloud as my integrator. We adopted EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) to streamline our operations: I’d come up with big ideas, and Justin would figure out how to make them actually happen. We were—and still are—a dynamic duo, the perfect combination of vision and execution.

Together, we took BoomCloud from a crazy idea born out of frustration at the Salt Lake Dental Lab to a multimillion-dollar company that empowers practices to ditch insurance and embrace membership plans. And while we may not be mixing dental powders or polishing crowns anymore, our roots in the lab gave us the foundation we needed to build something incredible.

Now, BoomCloud isn’t just our business; it’s our family legacy, with all the humor, grit, and relentless drive you’d expect from two brothers who used to argue over lab tools but now run a thriving SaaS company. Not bad for a couple of dental lab kids from Salt Lake, huh?
